Important information on Tax Returns for Uber Drivers
The ATO is asking banks to hand over details about customers that use Uber in order to crack down on drivers that are not paying their fair share of tax. The ATO will receive details of all payments made to Uber which is estimated to be around 60,000 people.
Make sure you are registered for GST, keep a log book and keep a summary of your vehicle running costs.
It’s important that when entering your Uber information into your etax return that it’s entered correctly. Not only that, if you aren’t registered for GST and haven’t been keeping up with your tax liabilities you could find yourself in some very expensive trouble.
